Propagate HMC certificates to defined CPCs to allow LDAP login with secure certs.

In the conversations with IBM, the following appears to be the recommended path and we are good with this approach.


We need to ensure that users (including IBM techs) can log into the Support elements using trusted AD-LDAP and our Privileged User protection mechanism

From IBM:

If you would like us to address an enhancement to be able to use Client imported LDAP Server connection certificates for HMC Users logging in locally at the SE, we would request that they submit a RFE for the following.


- The HMC Certificate Management task should be enhanced to add an option to allow certificates imported at the HMC to be propagated automatically to all HMC managed (defined) CPCs (SEs).

    Where is the user defined that requires the certificate needed to communicate with the LDAP server? There are really several possibilities:

    1. A regular user (not a user derived from a user pattern and user template) and the associated LDAP configuration is done on the Support Element itself.

    2. A regular user (not a user derived from a user pattern and user template) and the associated LDAP configuration is done on the HMC and this information is shared with the Support Element for logon purposes.

    3. A user derived from a user pattern and user template defined on the Support Element along with the associated LDAP configuration.

    4. A user derived from a user pattern and user template defined on the HMC along with the associated LDAP configuration is shared with the Support Element for logon purposes.
