Z/OS RMM RM(EXPDT) Catalog Control function for expdt=99000.

Right now with retention method expdt if a the user uses expdt=99000 in their jcl the expiration date is set to 12/31/1999. With whilecatalog(on) for a management class we want to use for catalog control, if all the datasets on the tape(s) are uncatalogged the data remains active in RMM. This is problematic especially in the case of GDGs as they roll off and remain active. For several years we have always told our users to code expdt=99000 for catalog control. This function works fine with RM(VRSEL). So in order for RM(EXPDT) to be a replacement for VRSEL there should be a way through the management class or default table to only keep the data if it's catalogged.

One solution available to you right now is UXTABLE. You can code an entry to set keyword dates like 99000 to their RMM equivalents.

In addition if you issue the RMM command RMM CD 'DSN ' vol(volser) EXPDT(99000) and the RMM CV volser expdt(99000) the expiration date is set to 00/00/1999 and the dataset is uncatalogged on the next housekeeping run. Risking loss of data, if you are not aware.
