This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The default ISPCMDS table has many commands that have a truncation value of 0 when there is no reason to force the user to type in the entire command name. Reasonable truncation values should be considered and implemented.
UDLIST is an example of this where a truncation value of 3 would still provide a meaningful short command name of UDL.
DDLIST could have a truncation value of 3 providing a meaningful short command of DDL.
DSLIST could have a truncation value of 3 providing a meaningful command of DSL.
These are just three examples where more intuitive short names could be achieved by implementing logical truncation values.

i agree each site can customize the ispf command table for this - asking for it to be something each site does not have to do and so they don't have to get it from the cbttape. :)
This is a valid requirement and is being accepted, but please note Tom Conley's comment about his provision of the capability on the CBT tape as that is available immediately.
I've already done this, look at www.cbttape.org File #967.

Tom Conley
