This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Since this is marked for "future consideration" for about 3 years now I wrote the following to point out how important an improvement would be.
Currently there are going to be a lot of clients using zERT on z/OSMF to ensure their transport security meets their or the regulators needs.
Therefore I think it is not viable to do everything in this tool manualy.
We for example export our CSV-reports to Splunk.
There are multiple steps that need to be performed one by one to achive that.
1. Extract the wanted SMF-Data from the system. (depends on your aproach)
2. Login to z/OSMF and open zERT
3. Manually type in your Dataset containing the SMF-Data
4. "Write" a query for the needed data and generate the report.
5. Export the csv file to a unix file.
6. Download the file to a local machine or server.
7. Forward the data to splunk.
In my opinion there is so much potential in automating this task and many client would benefit from these improvements.
Posible ways of improvement:
- Have an import API or other interface which lets the user directly import SMF-Data to the zERT Database from a JCL, REXX or other.
- Haven an export API. With a sophisticated input file you could control so many things. (e.g. the query itself, the output destination and maybe even a option for direct transport to the analystic engine)
