Reduce volume of IFA786W messages when buffers fill up

We had an issue resulting in SMF log stream had no buffers available resulting in the following message being issued literally thousands of time and flooding our automation product and console:

IFA786W SMF DATA LOST - NO BUFFER SPACE AVAILABLE TIME=06.38.11 FOR IFASMF.ND00.DB2

I appreciate this conditions are rare, but would it be possible to reduce the amount of message created when this situation occurs as the volume if huge! In my view, a single important message should be created indicating the log stream has filled up and another clearing message issued once it has been resolved.

This item is unlikely to be given high enough priority to be placed into the product plan.
